NAF OIL SEPARATORS

Oil products separator is designed to separate oil products from surface wastewater. Oil from water can be separated by gravity method and/or coalescing plate method. Oil separator can be used either for the initial wastewater treatment, i.e. before surface wastewater gets into surface sewer; either for final wastewater treatment, i.e. before rainwater gets into the water bodies. Oil separators can not be used to treat domestic wastewater.

Oil separators produced by JSC Feliksnavis are assigned to Category I, where the maximum allowable volume of oil products after treatment is 5 mg/l.

The oil separators are comprised of sand separator and two separate chambers. Sand separator separates sand and other solids from wastewater. The coalescing filter made of foam is projected in first chamber of oil separator. Concentration of oil products in the treated wastewater after first chamber is 5 mg/l. The Fibroil sorption filter is placed in second chamber. Concentration of oil products after second chamber is up to 1 mg/l.

 

PRINSIPLE OF OPERATION

The oil separator comprises of two separate horizontal or vertical cylindrical chambers (sand separator, first and second chamber), coalescing module, Fibroil filter, and oil level sensor, which reports about accumulated oil products in it.


In order to ensure the required efficiency of treated wastewater (not less than 5 mg/l), the sand separator must be installed before any oil separator. Sedimentation of mineral suspension (sand, gravel, sludge etc.) takes a place in the sand separator.

Wastewater contaminated with oil products enters the first chamber of oil separator through the inlet pipe and T-pipe, where the flotation and coalescence take place. Larger oil product particles flow up. Small particles settle on the surface of the coalescing filter. The adsorption and coalescence taking place, then combination of particles flow up, thus the layer of the oil products formed on the surface. In case when the wastewater has to be treated up to 1 mg/l the water flow going into the second chamber of oil separator. In second chamber wastewater is additionally treated from the oil products using Fibroil sorption filter. Then treated wastewater goes through the nozzle pipe toward the outlet. The treated wastewater from the oil separator gets to domestic wastewater sewer pipes for further treatment. Each oil separator is manufactured with inspection manhole which allows extending the inlet on the necessary depth from the surface of the ground. Oil separators are designed with oil level sensors which inform about accumulated oil products in it. The accumulated oil products should be eliminated by sewage disposal truck, and also taken away for the further utilization.
